Healthy Schools for Healthy Communities, South Africa

Abongile attends one of the schools in Kwazekele, Port Elizabeth, South Africa that participated in Disease, Activity and Schoolchildren’s Health (DASH) – a research project to identify the causes and address the impact of poor health on children in schools from disadvantaged neighborhoods in Port Elizabeth.

Following the success of the research project, the Novartis Foundation, the University of Basel, the Nelson Mandela University and the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute are pleased to announce the launch of the Healthy Schools for Healthy Communities initiative, which aims to improve the overall and cardiovascular health of students, like Abongile and their teachers.
